Reproduction Questions

What is the difference between original artwork and fine art reproductions?

An original artwork is a unique, one-of-a-kind painting, signed and dated by Lisa Blonder. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. A fine art reproduction is a high-quality giclée print of an original artwork and is custom-ordered and made by a professional, high-quality fine arts printing lab. They produce either a stretched canvas gallery-wrapped or a framed Hahnemühle paper reproduction using archival inks and quality finishing materials. Prints are produced in limited collections of 50 pieces.

Please explain all of the custom reproduction options.

Some information is available on the Art Prints page, however I recommend contacting me to discuss the various options and preferences to create a final product.

Do custom reproductions have texture?

Yes and No. A reproduction is created with ink only and there is not a raised texture. However the printing process and the paper or canvas selection allows the original artistic colors and textures to be seen. There may be variations from the original, but I will work with the printer to ensure the highest quality art reproduction.

Why do you offer different reproductions?

I create small collections. I also want to make my art more accessible so will be exploring the best ways to deliver high-quality fine art reproductions to clients at a range of price points. So much depends upon the original medium, so will be customizing this process to ensure the original integrity of the art and the best presentation for the client and their space.

Artwork & Framing Questions

How is Giclée printing ?

Fine art reproductions are made using Giclée printing, which is the gold standard used by museums, galleries, and professional photographers worldwide. This archival process uses pigment-based inks and fine art, acid-free paper or canvas to preserve the depth, textures, and tonal nuances. Giclée printing offers superior color accuracy, high resolution, and longevity without significant fading.

What does gallery wrapped mean?

Gallery wrapping is a method of stretching canvas so that it wraps around the sides of stretcher bars and is secured to the back of the wooden frame. Artwork that is gallery wrapped can hang without a frame.

What is a stretcher bar?

A stretcher bar is used to construct a wooden frame which canvas or linen is then stretched over and mounted to. It is a method for hanging your artwork.

What is a floater frame?

A floater frame is a style of frame where the art is mounted from behind making it appear as if it is not touching or “floating” within the frame. This style does not use any glazing or a mat. It’s only offered for works on canvas and is usually deeper than a traditional frame.

What is glazing?

Glazing is a generic term for the clear protective covering, such as glass or acrylic, used to cover artwork in framing.

What is acrylic?

Acrylic is a lighter-weight, shatter-resistant alternative to glass frame glazing. It offers superior UV protection and is ideal for large framing projects. It’s what we use for our framed works.

Will the colors of the artwork look exactly as they appear on my screen?

Subtle variations between monitors, screen resolution, brightness and lighting all can effect the appearance of the artwork. I work with the printer to pay attention to best represent the colors of the original artwork , however there may be a slight different from screen to print. Please reach out if you’d like to see additional photos of a work before making a purchase.

How is are art reproductions installed?

Artwork and reproductions will include proper hanging hardware already installed when you receive it. Once unpacked, your work it is ready to be hung on your wall.

Are art reproductions signed?

Original artwork is signed on the back of the canvas or paper. This allows the flexibility to hang the work either vertically or horizontally. In addition, most custom reproductions don’t include a signature, . If there is an exception to this it will be noted in the product description.
